Baltimore County’s Department of Economic and Workforce Development reached out to Metro Data, In'c President, Mr. Bert Orlitzky and asked if he could participate in Baltimore County's recently launched a new veteran training program called VetWorks.
VetWorks is a short-term training initiative that helps veterans find work fast through career planning, military-to-civilian translation, career branding, resume writing, job search skills, etc.
This new pilot program equips veterans with the skills, tools, and connections to land a good paying job and grow in their career. During this 5-day seminar series, veterans translate their military experience to the civilian workforce and connect with employers that are ready to hire.
As a U.S. Air Force Veteran, naturally, Bert said yes! "Being a Veteran is something I will always be proud of. Helping other Veterans is instinctive, as it should be for everyone, but no one can relate to the common experiences that veterans go through as well as another vet."
The VetWorks program took place at Liberty Center, CCBC Randallstown, and approximately a dozen Veterans attended. Each Veteran had an opportunity to describe their background, military and civilian work experience, and their current employment status. Very lively discussions included ideas about job searching, self-promotion, and opportunities that exist for Veterans.
